Advanced HireME
This hands-on workshop takes a more in-depth look into HireME, examining the many features beyond the basics of registering and searching for jobs covered in the first HireME workshop. During this session students will have an opportunity to log into their HireME accounts and explore individual questions. Attend this session to make sure you fully understand and are utilizing the many features of HireME, including how to:
- Track your activity in the system
- Verify you have applied to a job
- Modify documents after you have already submitted them to a position
- Understand the difference between information listed under "referrals" versus that contained under "schedules"
- Decipher the job posting to find out timeline information regarding resume submission deadlines and interview sign-up periods
After the Career Fair
Communicating with employers does not end with the Career Fair! This workshop will discuss why it is important to communicate with employers after the Career Fair, and explain when and how to successfully follow-up with employers.
Behavioral Interviewing
The behavioral interview is a specific type of interview that focuses on candidates past actions and behaviors. Attend this workshop to learn what to expect in a behavioral interview and how to successfully prepare.
Case Study Workshops
Case study interviews are utilized by many companies and require specific preparation in order to be successful. Attend this session to learn more about what a case study is, what recruiters are seeking in candidates during these interviews, and how to effectively prepare for your next case study interview.
Communication Etiquette
Communication etiquette starts with your cover letter and resume and continues throughout the interview and offer stages of your job search. This workshop will give you tips on the appropriate ways to handle your communication with employers throughout your job search.
Co-ops and Internships
This workshop will explain the difference between a co-op and internship and why these experiences are important to have throughout your college career.
HireME
HireME is the online recruiting system available to all engineering and computer science students and alumni. This session will demonstrate how to register, search for jobs in the database, and successfully apply for job opportunities. Specific topics to be addressed include managing multiple resumes and cover letters, the difference between searching via "Jobs" and "Schedules", and resume drops and on-campus interviews.
Interviewing
Interviews are used as a screening process for identifying successful candidates for positions. Attend this workshop to find out what qualities interviewers look for in job candidates, gain tips on how to prepare for the interview, and learn how to effectively communicate as a qualified candidate.
Job Search Strategies Workshop
Still seeking a position for after the winter semester? If so, attend this workshop to find out about how to search and apply for positions through avenues other than HireME and the Career Fair. Different job search resources will be discussed, as well as tips for helping your resume stand out to recruiters!
Negotiating
Attend this workshop to find out how to examine your entire employment offer and make a well informed decision in accepting your first position. This workshop will discuss how to negotiate salary or other aspects of the offer, managing multiple offers, and explain ethics in negotiating and accepting offers.
Networking
Networking is one of the best ways to advance your career, yet many professionals don't know where or how to begin. This workshop will define networking, explain how it can help your career, and also teach you ways to develop, maintain, utilize and communicate with your network.
Preparing for the Career Fair
This workshop will address all aspects of attending a Career Fair. Specific topics include appropriate dress, questions to ask employers, managing your time, and how to prepare ahead of time in order to make your best impression with employers.
Resumes and CV's
Although often used interchangeably, there is a difference between the purpose and format for a resume versus that of a curriculum vita (CV). This session describes the difference between a resume and CV, when to use each one, and the standard format for each.
Resume Writing
This workshop is designed to help Engineering students write clear, concise and targeted resumes. This session focuses on writing an objective statement, detailing your experience and skills, creating reader friendly formats, and maintaining professionalism in your communication to employers.

You and Your Online Identity: Strategies for Managing and Enhancing a Professional Online Self
Increasingly employers utilize the internet, social networking sites, and search engine technology to obtain information on job candidates. Employers also use the web to post jobs, recruit new employees, and obtain professional contacts. This workshop explores what it means to have a professional online identity in the digital age. Participants examine how to manage utilizing a variety of online technologies including social networking sites, professional networking sites, and blogs. Participants are given strategies to build and maintain professional contacts on the web, and are given tips on how to monitor and protect the online image they project. Ultimately, having the right knowledge and tools is essential for managing and enhancing your online self.
