Hire a Michigan Engineer

Welcome, Employers! Michigan Engineers are trained at one of the leading science and technology institutions in the country. Many companies have discovered that the best way to assure a successful record of hires is building a solid, ongoing relationship with Michigan Engineering and its student body. Companies are encouraged to participate in career fairs, company days, career engagement opportunities with student organizations, and other events. Learn about each of our top ranked programs within our engineering programs overview.

Following is information regarding the recruitment options available, contact the ECRC staff for assistance.

Career Engagement Opportunities (CEOs) are a great way to engage with engineering students and continue to build your brand. CEOs are hosted through the ECRC as well as our engineering departments and student organizations.

Career fairs are held throughout the year by student organizations, departments, and the ECRC for all College of Engineering and LSA Computer Science and Data Science students.

Company Days provide an opportunity to have casual conversations with Michigan Engineering students to enhance your organization’s visibility, increase brand awareness, and allow students to explore careers and day to day operations within your organization/industry. We encourage you to consider inviting Michigan Engineering alums and/or engineers from your organization to participate in this event! Contact your ECRC Career Services Manager to learn more.

We encourage you to partner with student organizations as part of your recruitment strategy with the College of Engineering. Your company will have the opportunity to engage with talent and showcase why students should work for you through unique, interactive events such as:

  • Case Studies/Project Simulations
  • Lunch and Learn
  • Tech Talks

The ECRC is pleased to provide employers with the ability to post engineering related positions to our recruiting system Engineering Careers, by 12twenty FREE of charge.

Employers recruiting at the Engineering Career Resource Center (ECRC) must adhere to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) guidelines, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Principles, Professional Standards and Competencies and the ECRC’s Recruitment Policy Statement. Please note, by accessing our online recruiting system, you are indicating your acceptance of these guidelines.

Offering Co-op and Internship assignments provide an excellent opportunity for employers to contribute to both the academic and professional development of our students. Employers gain a valuable source of talent combined with the chance to identify qualified candidates before they graduate.

Co-ops enable students to alternate school and work terms and apply their skills to the work setting. Ideally, a co-op is eight-months of hands-on engineering experience, occurring either May through December or January through August.

The ECRC supports on-campus interviews during the Fall and Winter semesters.

It is not uncommon for employers to hire international students. Fortunately, it’s not a difficult process for students to gain permission to work within the United States. In fact, most of the international students you may be interested in as candidates are on non-immigrant F-1 and J-1 student visas. This means that they can work under certain conditions.

The ECRC Corporate Partner Program is an opportunity for employers to support the ECRC in our effort to prepare students for their transition from college to career and to expand the employer’s brand on campus.
